Hip Stretches
Seated External rotation stretch
Hold: 20 seconds
Reps: 5 times
Movement
Begin sitting upright in a chair. Cross one leg over the other so that your ankle is resting on top of your opposite thigh.
Gently press downward on your bent knee.
You should feel a stretch through the back of your hip and buttocks of your bent leg.
Tip
Try to not to arch your back or lean to one side as you stretch.
Knee to chest
Hold: 20 seconds
Reps: 5 times
Movement
Using your hands, slowly pull one knee toward your chest until you feel a gentle stretch in your lower back.
Hip flexor stretch
Hold: 20 seconds
Reps: 5 times
Movement
Place one leg resting on a table or chair and the leg to be stretched resting on the ground.
Keeping your back straight and upright, squeeze your bottom, and slowly shift your weight forward until you feel a stretch in the front of your hip.
